Hello, my name is Aaron from Eureka. I am 10 years old. My favorite things to do are to bowl and play soccer. I also love to sit in front of the TV and nap. Usually, I play the Nintendo DS whenever I’m bored. I love to swim, and I am interested in the history in the Olympic Games. I love Eureka because it is the horse racing capital of Kansas, as told by my brother. I love it for the environment, and the way there isn’t much crime in Eureka. My thoughts on global warming are that global warming is harmful to the environment. It could be the cause of more severe weather like a drought in Atlanta, Georgia, and a tornado in Greensburg,Ks.
Hi, my name is Lexie and I am in the 5th grade. I like to play basketball, softball, volleyball, swim, run track, sew, cook, camp, and go fishing. I also like to play the piano, alto saxaphone, and play with my friends. I think the best thing about Eureka is that it's not a really big town, and it's not a really small town, it is just a really nice place to live. The thing about global warming is if there are too many greenhouse gases in the air, it will make the glaciers start to melt and once the glaciers melt the ocean will go up and that will make it harder for the people that live on the coastline because the water will be so high.
Hi, I’m Connor I am in 6th grade. My favorite things to do are play videogames, play football, go fishing with my dad, reading, and sleeping over with my friends. My favorite thing about Eureka is that everyone seems to know you and it takes hardly 5 min. to get across town. On May 4, 2007 a huge tornado went through Greensburg, Kansas. The tornado was a category 5 tornado, the biggest on a scale of 1-5 it was a mile wide. It went straight through Greensburg wiping out the town. 9 people were confirmed dead, 50 people were sent to hospitals, 16 of them in critical condition. These are before and after pictures of the Greensburg area, the wind was strong enough to put a fork in a tree.
This is why I’m concerned about global warming.
Hi, I'm Roberto. I am 11 years old. My hobbies are playing board games, watching NASCAR races and exercising. The tornado in Greensburg, Kansas & the drought in Atlanta, Georgia are examples of how global warming is causing weather changes. The tornado in Greensburg was the most destructive we have had in our state in many years. The reason I love living in Eureka is, there isn't much crime, its beautiful when you explore it, and basically everybody knows you!
Bonjour, or in English hello. My name is Michael. I enjoy the following things:
➢ Basketball
➢ Baseball
➢ Football
➢ Soccer
➢ Hunting
➢ Fishing
➢ Camping
➢ Video games
➢ Television
➢ Hiking
➢ Wrestling
➢ Dodge ball
➢ Kick ball
➢ Eating food
➢ Bugging my sisters
➢ And using the computers
It has come to my attention that global warming is causing more severe storms and floods.
This is becoming a real problem such as the big flood in Coffeyville. An employee at the oil refinery forgot to close one valve on an oil tank and it caused 71,000 gallons of crude oil to filter out into the floodwater and contaminate tons of dirt in Coffeyville. The benzene in the oil made the dirt unsafe and people had to dig up their yards and haul the dirt off. They then had to replace the dirt.
Many thanks for your interesting comments!
Mayte
